Whether you’re planning an out-of-town off-road adventure, or simply need to bring your side-by-side in for a few quick repairs, it’s always better to haul your vehicle rather than tow it. Towing for long periods of time will not only damage the wheels of your side-by-side but also runs the risk of bending your model’s frame. To avoid an expensive repair and ensure your side-by-side gets where it needs to go, be sure to read our helpful hauling guide below.

Tools You’ll Need

To successfully haul your side-by-side from point A to point B, you’ll first need to gather up a few important tools for the trip. For starters, you’ll need to gather up four durable tie-down straps and wheel blocks to keep your vehicle safely in place while you drive. You’ll also need some kind of trailer or cargo space to safely transport your side-by-side, as well as a ramp to make loading and unloading your vehicle as quick and easy as possible.

Loading Up

To load up your side-by-side you’ll first need to fold down your ramp—or position it safely at the entrance of your trailer— and place your vehicle just a few yards away from the end of the slope. Carefully drive forward with your side-by-side, until your wheels are perfectly straight and you’re touching the end of the ramp. Aligning your side-by-side’s tires may take some adjusting, so feel free to reverse as needed until your vehicle is at the perfect angle to drive up the ramp and into the back of the trailer.

Once your side-by-side is up into the trailer, feel free to cut the engine, place down your wheel blocks, and begin attaching your tie-down straps to your model’s frame or axles. If possible try to use four different anchoring points on your trailer to create the shape of an X with your tie-down cords. This will help ensure your side-by-side stays perfectly in place as you drive and doesn’t slide from side to side as you turn or accelerate.
