ATVs are great ways to explore the great outdoors and get hard work done faster, but did you know they’re also great for hunting trips? We here at Moroney’s Motorsports want to help you have the hunting experience you deserve, so we’ve put together a brief guide to buying the right hunting ATV, below. To learn more, or to see the ATVs we have for sale, contact our store in New Windsor, New York, today!

The Terrain

Your first consideration is what terrain you’ll be in. Consider what material your ATV’s tires will have to contend with, like dirt paths, sand, or mud. This will impact what size and type of tires you’ll need, which may or may not come with the ATV you’re looking at. Next, consider the width of any and all trails you’ll be driving on to help you determine the width of the ATV you can buy. Finally, think about any obstacles you’ll need to drive over or around. Any larger ones will require a slightly higher ground clearance.

The Game

The next step is making sure the ATV doesn’t spook whatever game you’re hunting. That means being careful about two things: appearance and noise level. Appearance-wise, that mostly means trying to get a camouflage paint job and matt finish. When it comes to noise level, chances are you’ll need to install an upgrade or two to muffle the engine’s noise, so keep that in mind when you’re budgeting.
